Ensuring your pixel is both correctly installed and functioning properly is crucial for accurate tracking, targeting, and retargeting. This guide provides three main sections: testing the pixel implementation to confirm it is correctly installed, testing the pixel functionality to ensure it operates as intended, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise. Follow these steps to identify and resolve any issues effectively.
An easy way to test if your pixel is correctly implemented is to use the in-app pixel tester. Here’s how:
1. Click the “Serve My Ads” or “Products” tab in the footer, then click “Show My Pixel” in the upper right corner.
2. Click “Test Pixel” at the bottom of the pixel popup.
3. Enter the full URL of any page where you have installed the pixel in “Test Pixel Installation”.
Depending on the pixel status, you’ll get different messages:
If you plan to use the pixel for a dynamic product retargeting campaign and have selected “Last Viewed” as a product targeting option, follow these steps:
If you do not see the expected behavior, the next step is to check if your website’s actual pixel code is being executed correctly.
To verify the pixel code execution, use your web browser’s developer tools.
1. Implement your pixel according to our guidelines.
2. Visit a product/vehicle/service page on your website.
3. Open the Developer Tools panel:
4. Navigate to the “Network” tab.
5. Click the “Filter” field and type in “adacado”. If nothing appears, try refreshing the page.
6. Look for “shell.umd.js” in the “Name” panel and confirm that you see “Status Code: 200”.
If you see “Status Code: 200” for “shell.umd.js”, your pixel code executes correctly. Contact the person who implemented your pixel to address the issue if you see something else.
If you’ve implemented your pixel and tested it using the above methods, but it still isn’t working, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Ensure that the pixel was added according to our guidelines. Mistakes in implementation, such as incorrect placement or missing code, can lead to functionality issues.
Adding the pixel code to non-product pages, such as the homepage or category pages, may cause unexpected and unwanted behavior. Review your website’s structure to ensure the pixel is only placed where necessary.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you can pinpoint the issue affecting your pixel’s functionality and take appropriate action to resolve it.
