In this guide I will walk you through the more advanced features of Adacado, and how to implement them in your campaigns. Depending on your advertising goals and the nature of your business, these features may be of interest to you. A few topics we will talk about today include: getting started with data feeds, implementing the pixel on your website, and building your own creatives! Follow along to go beyond just the basics of launching your display advertising campaigns in Adacado.

Getting Started with Data Feeds

A data feed is another term for product feed, and it is a file that contains all the necessary information about your product/vehicle/service offerings. Data feeds are most often stored on an open-source Google worksheet, but if for example you have a Shopify website, you can also export your feed through an application called Flexify. Examples of information included in a data feed are: product price, product title, product ID, and sale price. It is important to note that you will only need to worry about obtaining a data feed if you have website inventory.

There are two reasons why you would upload a data feed. The first reason is that you have products that you are selling online. The second reason is that you are looking to run dynamic advertising. Dynamic advertising allows you to show ads based on each specific user’s activity on your website, and this is where the inventory from your data feed will be pulled and further displayed on your ads.

Implementing the Pixel on Your Website

A pixel is a string of JavaScript code that is placed on the product/vehicle/service pages of your website, so that Adacado can detect user behavior on these pages. The pixel is placed before the </body> tag on these specific pages. For more information about pixel implementation, check out the support doc here.

The main reason for implementing the pixel is if you are looking to capture the attention of past website visitors. This would be done through what is called ‘display retargeting’, where your ads would be shown to specific users based on what they were last viewing on your website.

To obtain the Adacado pixel, navigate to the ‘Campaign Targets’ button on the footer, and from there select ‘Show My Pixel’, and copy the snippet of code.

Building Your Own Creatives

In Adacado, you have the ability to choose your creative (the actual design of your ads) from Adacado’s theme gallery, or build your own from scratch with the template editor. To customize your creatives, you can either edit an existing template from the storyboard view in the creative section of your campaign, or create your own template(s) from the My Templates page accessed by the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner. Learn more about customizing your creatives here.

However, if you are looking to customize a single element of a pre-selected theme from the theme gallery, you can also do that! You may do that by first selecting a theme in the theme gallery, and then by clicking the pencil icon on the theme you would like to edit.

Note: The themes in the theme gallery that are not editable are the themes showing multiple products (multi-view themes).
